Section 01
Data we collect
We collect the minimum data needed to operate Margin Kitchen and produce the daily profit brief. We never sell or rent your data.
- Account data — name, work email, role and the organization you belong to.
- Restaurant operational data — sales, schedules, menu items, recipes, ingredient costs, inventory counts and waste logs imported or connected by you.
- Uploaded files — CSV imports you provide for any of the workflows above, including any sample data you choose to upload.
- Usage data — pages opened, actions taken in the app, and basic device data used for security and product improvement.
- Support data — messages you send to us and the context we need to resolve them.
Section 02
Restaurant operational data
Restaurant operational data is the most sensitive data you trust us with. It is used solely to generate forecasts, prep plans, menu margin recommendations, labor guidance and the profit brief for your organization. It is not used to train cross-customer models without your explicit, written consent.
Section 03
Account data
Account data is used for authentication, role-based access control and to send you product and security communications. You can update or delete your account information at any time from the settings area or by emailing ops-support@marginkitchen.com.
Section 04
Uploaded CSV data
Files you upload (sales history, item sales, recipes, inventory counts, supplier prices, labor shifts, waste logs) are stored in your organization's workspace, scoped to your locations, and accessible only to users you have invited with the correct role. You can delete uploaded files from the import history at any time.
Section 05
Usage data
We collect aggregated usage data to operate, secure and improve the product. Where we use third-party analytics, those providers process data on our behalf under agreements that restrict their use to Margin Kitchen.
Section 07
Data retention
- Financial records: 7 years, to meet standard restaurant accounting and audit requirements.
- Immutable audit logs: 365 days.
- Raw product telemetry: 1 year, then aggregated or deleted.
- Workspace operational data: retained while your account is active, plus 30 days after cancellation for re-activation, then deleted.
Section 08
Deletion and export requests
You can request export or deletion of your organization's data at any time by emailing ops-support@marginkitchen.com. Owners can also export their data from the settings area. Verified deletion requests are typically processed within 30 days.
Section 09
Third-party processors
Margin Kitchen uses a small number of vetted sub-processors for hosting, authentication, email delivery, analytics and AI inference. The current sub-processor list is published on the data processing page and updated whenever a sub-processor is added or removed.
Customers on annual plans receive 30 days' written notice before a new sub-processor is engaged.
